This wide sweet spot is a lifesaver for producers who move around their desk while tracking or mixing. Frequency-wise, the 8-inch driver provides a satisfyingly deep 37Hz floor that is tight and controlled rather than boomy, though the rear-firing Slip Stream port means you'll need to keep them at least a foot away from walls to avoid muddy low-end buildup.
The transition between the woofer and the 1-inch tweeter is impressively seamless, providing a transparent midrange that makes vocal leveling straightforward. On the downside, the Class D amplifiers exhibit a faint 'hiss'"a common quirk of the 3-series"which might irritate those working at very low volumes in ultra-quiet, treated spaces. Additionally, the glossy plastic baffle feels a bit 'consumer' and is a magnet for fingerprints. Despite these minor gripes, the 308P MkII is a value powerhouse.
