Utilizing a quartet of EL84 output tubes paired with three 12AX7 preamp tubes, it pushes a single 12-inch Celestion VX12 speaker that captures the essential Vox character with plenty of chime and harmonic overtone. The single top boost channel features volume, treble, bass, and master volume controls, with the master volume being a practical addition that allows players to access the amp's natural overdrive at more manageable stage volumes. Onboard tremolo and reverb are included, both sounding characteristically warm and musically useful. Tone-wise, the AC30S1 delivers the classic Vox experience: bright, chimey cleans that sparkle with single-coil pickups, and a warm, compressed overdrive when pushed that sits beautifully in a band mix without ever becoming harsh. The amp takes pedals exceptionally well, particularly overdrive and fuzz circuits that benefit from the bright, touch-responsive platform. Construction is solid with the traditional diamond grille cloth and sturdy build expected from the AC30 line.
