While many 12-strings are a chore to play due to high action and chunky necks, Taylor's signature slim neck profile makes this dreadnought feel surprisingly nimble. The solid Sitka spruce top provides that crystalline high-end shimmer you expect, while the layered walnut back and sides offer a sturdy, road-ready construction that resists humidity shifts better than all-solid alternatives.
Sonically, it's a cannon. The dreadnought shape ensures the low-end doesn't get lost in the sea of octaves, providing a foundational 'thump' that anchors the chorus-like jangle. The Expression System 2 electronics are a highlight; the behind-the-saddle transducer captures natural string separation without the plastic 'quack' that plagues many acoustic-electrics.
There are minor trade-offs: the layered walnut lacks the complex harmonic overtones and 'aging' potential of the 300 series and up.
