Um lendário jumbo dreadnought com spruce e jacarandá maciços entregando um som massivo e que preenche a sala com graves trovejantes, apresentando o design de costas arqueadas da Guild e ornamentações em abalone sofisticadas.
The Guild D-55 remains a titan of the dreadnought world, often overshadowed by its Nazareth-born rivals but arguably offering more 'soul' for the investment. Coming out of the Oxnard factory, the current builds exhibit a level of refinement that honors its 1968 heritage while tightening up the playability for the modern professional. Sonically, it's a powerhouse. The combination of the Sitka spruce top and solid Indian rosewood back and sides delivers a harmonically rich profile with a massive low-end that remains articulate. Unlike some rosewood dreadnoughts that can sound 'scooped,' the D-55 maintains a punchy midrange that cuts through a live mix with authority.
The craftsmanship is top-tier; the nitrocellulose finish is applied with enough restraint to let the resonance bloom, and the iconic V-block inlays provide a visual prestige that matches its sonic output. On the downside, this is a heavy, substantial instrument. Its sheer physical presence and massive projection might overwhelm intimate fingerstyle players or those with smaller frames. However, for the flatpicker or the singer-songwriter needing a 'wall of sound' accompaniment, the D-55 is peerless. It is a professional-grade heirloom that justifies its price by frequently out-performing boutique builds costing significantly more.
