By refining the amplifier stage, they've lowered the noise floor to a level that satisfies even the most critical near-field listening environments. The 3-way coaxial design remains the centerpiece here; the 4-inch midrange driver does the heavy lifting, allowing the 8-inch woofer to focus purely on low-end extension without muddying the crucial vocal and guitar frequencies.
Sonically, the imaging is startlingly precise. Because it's a point-source monitor, the 'sweet spot' is remarkably wide, and the phase coherence is superior to almost anything in the sub-$1,000 category. The low-end is punchy and reaches deep enough that a subwoofer feels optional for most mixing tasks. While the cabinet aesthetics are somewhat utilitarian and the plastic baffle feels a bit 'budget,' the performance is anything but. The boundary EQ settings on the back are intuitive and genuinely helpful for taming room-boundary reflections.
