Overview
The Roland SPD-SX is the predecessor to the SPD-SX PRO and remains one of the most widely used sampling pads in professional music, continuing to serve thousands of touring and studio drummers worldwide with its proven reliability and excellent pad response. The SPD-SX features nine velocity-sensitive rubber pads with Roland's multi-layer sampling technology that responds to playing dynamics with natural, realistic sound. The internal storage holds approximately 16GB of WAV samples, providing ample capacity for complete show setups with backing tracks, one-shot samples, and layered percussion sounds. Three dedicated pad effects including MFX, filter, and drive allow real-time sound manipulation during performance. The external trigger inputs connect up to two additional pads or kick triggers for expanded configurations. The four individual outputs enable separate routing of different pads to different channels on a mixer. The Wave Manager software simplifies sample import and pad assignment through a USB connection. The dual-zone side trigger strip adds two additional playing surfaces for kick and hi-hat trigger mounting. The metal chassis is built for touring durability.
