The Focal Shape 65 is a premium near-field studio monitor featuring Focal's proprietary 6.5-inch flax cone woofer and a 1-inch aluminum-magnesium inverted dome tweeter, designed for professional studios and discerning home producers who require accurate, musical monitoring with European sonic refinement. The flax sandwich cone driver is a hallmark of Focal's engineering, combining natural flax fibers between two layers of fiberglass to create a driver that is lightweight, rigid, and naturally damped, producing a midrange and bass response that is warm, detailed, and free of the resonant colorations found in conventional polypropylene or Kevlar cones. The inverted dome tweeter delivers extended, smooth high frequencies with wide dispersion, ensuring a large sweet spot and accurate off-axis response. The bi-amplified Class AB and Class D power section provides 105 watts total, with the Class AB amplifier driving the tweeter for low distortion and the Class D section powering the woofer for efficient, controlled bass. Passive radiators on the side panels extend the low-frequency response without the port noise associated with bass reflex designs, allowing the Shape 65 to be placed close to walls without compromising bass accuracy.
