Overview
The Dingwall NG3 Combustion is a multiscale bass designed in collaboration with Nolly Getgood, built for modern metal and progressive players who demand tight, defined low-end response across every string. It features a swamp ash or alder body with a maple neck and a maple or pau ferro fingerboard, with a fanned fret system spanning 34 inches on the high string to 37 inches on the low string, optimizing tension and clarity for each individual string. The Dingwall FD-3N pickups with a Darkglass onboard preamp deliver a massive, sculpted tone that is tight, aggressive, and ready for heavy tunings without losing articulation. The multiscale design is the defining feature -- the low B string has exceptional clarity and punch thanks to the extended 37-inch scale, while the higher strings maintain the familiar playability of a standard scale length. The fanned frets feel surprisingly natural after a brief adjustment period, and most players adapt within the first few playing sessions. Build quality is excellent, with clean fret work across the angled frets and a well-balanced body that sits comfortably during long sessions. This bass has become a modern standard in progressive metal and djent, making it ideal for players in those genres who need low-tuned precision.
